Colombian pop sensation Shakira has been hospitalized in Lima, Peru, due to a sudden abdominal condition, leading to the cancellation of her scheduled concert on Sunday, February 16, 2025. The 48-year-old artist shared the unexpected news with her fans via social media, expressing deep regret over the unforeseen turn of events.
In a heartfelt message posted on her Instagram Story, Shakira wrote: "I am sorry to inform you all that last night I had to go to the ER for an abdominal issue and am currently hospitalized. The doctors whose care I am currently under have communicated that I am not in good enough condition to perform this evening."
The Lima concert was set to be the third performance in her "Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran" world tour, which commenced on February 11 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Shakira had been eagerly anticipating reconnecting with her Peruvian audience after more than a decade since her last performance in the city. She conveyed her disappointment, stating, "I am very sad to not be able to take the stage today. I've been looking forward to reuniting with my incredible fans here in Peru."
Despite the setback, Shakira remains optimistic about her recovery. She mentioned the possibility of being discharged soon and resuming her tour, with another concert in Lima scheduled for Monday, February 17. Her team is actively working on rescheduling the canceled performance, aiming to provide fans with a new date as soon as possible.
The "Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran" tour supports Shakira's latest album of the same name, which recently earned her the Best Latin Pop Album award at the 67th Grammy Awards earlier this month. The album features the global hit "Shakira: Bzrp Music Sessions, Vol. 53," and the tour includes stops across Latin America, with plans to extend to Canada and the United States in May.
