Tributes Pour In for Angie Stone Following Fatal Car Crash


 Grammy-nominated R&B singer and actress Angie Stone, renowned for her soulful voice and contributions to the neo-soul movement, tragically died in a car accident on March 1, 2025, at the age of 63.

The accident occurred around 4 a.m. as Stone was traveling from a performance in Montgomery, Alabama, back to Atlanta. The vehicle she was in reportedly overturned on Interstate 65 and was subsequently struck by a big rig. While others in the van survived, Stone was pronounced dead at the scene.

Born in Columbia, South Carolina, Stone's musical journey began in the late 1970s with the pioneering female hip-hop group The Sequence, known for their hit "Funk You Up." She later transitioned to R&B, achieving solo success with albums like "Black Diamond" (1999) and "Mahogany Soul" (2001), which featured the hit "Wish I Didn't Miss You."


Beyond her music career, Stone showcased her versatility as an actress, appearing in films such as "The Hot Chick," "The Fighting Temptations," and "Ride Along." She also graced the Broadway stage in the musical "Chicago" and participated in reality TV shows like "Celebrity Fit Club" and "R&B Divas: Atlanta."

Stone is survived by her daughter, Diamond, and son, Michael, as well as two grandchildren. Her family and fans mourn the loss of a remarkable artist whose influence spanned genres and generations.
