Snoop Dogg Faces Backlash After Performing at Trump's 'Crypto Ball'

On January 17, 2025, renowned rapper Snoop Dogg performed at the inaugural "Crypto Ball" in Washington, D.C., a pre-inauguration event celebrating President Donald Trump's return to office. The event, hosted by venture capitalist David Sacks, marked a significant alliance between the cryptocurrency sector and the incoming administration.

Snoop Dogg's participation sparked immediate backlash from fans and the public, who recalled his previous criticisms of Trump. In 2017, Snoop released the "Lavender (Nightfall Remix)" music video, which depicted a satirical portrayal of Trump as a clown, culminating in a mock assassination scene.

Given this history, many fans viewed his performance at the pro-Trump event as contradictory.

Social media platforms were abuzz with reactions. One user remarked, "2pac always was right about snoop dogg, he always playing both sides for a check and some clout smh."

Another fan expressed disappointment, stating, "Snoop Dogg performing at a Trump event? Never thought I'd see the day."

In response to the criticism, Snoop Dogg addressed the controversy, stating, "My performance was about the music and connecting with fans. It wasn't an endorsement of any political figure or agenda."

Despite his clarification, the incident has ignited discussions about the intersection of art, politics, and personal beliefs, highlighting the challenges artists face when their professional engagements are perceived to conflict with their past statements or actions.
